PAYMENT ON WHATSAPP


The most popular messaging application Whatsapp may soon buit-in the payment method option. The Facebook-owned company is said to be already beta testing the platform with its banking partners. Recently, the company has also rolled out it’s WhatsApp for Business app. It is likely to have that the app too may have contain some kinds of integration with the payment methods.

 

LAUNCH:
The Whatsapp payment method may launch soon (predicted) in next month.(i.e FEB). According to a report, the platform is likely to go live for consumers by the end of February 2018. The company is already running app as beta tester with its official partners.

APP AS TOP LAYER:
According to the report, WhatsApp will act as a top layer app that will identify both the sender’s and the recipient address. It further adds that since the app’s payments platform will be integrated with banks and it will also identify the bank accounts of the customers.Finally, Unified Payments Interface(UPI) will help to settle the transactions. WhatsApp is reportedly at various stages of integrating its UPI-based system with its official banking partners.

LINKS WITH BANKS:
WhatsApp has already linked its app with SBI ,ICICI ,HDFC and AXIS BANK. The company has tied up with these various leading banks of the country for the payment options.

PERMISSION:
The most messaging popular app has got the permission from the govt of india for UPI integration in the month of july of 2017.

SECURITY:
There are various security concerns that need to be addressed before the integration, especially with regard to customers’ banking data is told by the app banking partners ET.

RIVALS:
The app will face the competition with other payment apps like PAYTM, GOOGLE TEZ and govt’s BHIM.
